Crypto lending & crypto-backed loan enquiries
Ask about the potential to borrow against eligible cryptocurrency holdings. Availability must be assessed for the asset, borrower, jurisdiction, custody arrangement and lender; this page is not an offer or a recommendation to borrow.
What is crypto lending?
Crypto lending can refer to borrowing against cryptocurrency collateral or lending out cryptoassets to seek a return. This page concerns borrowing enquiries: asking whether eligible existing holdings could support a loan. GLOPEX acts as an intermediary, not a direct lender, custodian or crypto deposit platform.
Our crypto lending guide explains collateral, loan-to-value, margin calls and the questions to ask before considering an arrangement.
How a crypto-backed loan enquiry works
- Outline the requirement. Give the asset, approximate value, amount required, currency and borrower’s country. Never provide private keys or seed phrases.
- Check the potential route. Borrower eligibility, the asset, jurisdiction, lender and custody arrangements must be assessed before any availability or terms can be confirmed.
- Review the full terms. Understand interest, all fees, repayment, collateral control, margin calls and liquidation. An initial enquiry is not a loan offer.
Bitcoin and other cryptoasset collateral
Tell us which assets you hold, their approximate value, your country, whether the proposed borrower is an individual or business and the amount and currency required. If you hold Bitcoin, Ethereum or another cryptoasset, identify it in the enquiry; acceptance by a lender is not guaranteed.
Understand what could happen to the collateral.
Crypto prices can move sharply. Under a particular agreement, a fall in value may lead to additional collateral requirements, partial repayment or liquidation of pledged assets. Custody, platform and counterparty risks also need to be understood. Do not assume a grace period, protection or access to collateral unless the terms explicitly provide it.
Crypto loan costs, custody and repayment
Ask who holds and controls the assets, whether collateral can be reused, how values and liquidation thresholds are calculated, what fees apply and what happens if the provider fails. Obtain advice appropriate to your circumstances on legal and tax consequences. Borrowing is not automatically tax-free or available to every borrower.
UK, USA, Canada and UAE enquiries.
GLOPEX welcomes international enquiries. Select your country and tell us where the borrower and asset are located. A service described on this website is not necessarily available in every jurisdiction; we review the relevant market before discussing a potential route.
Crypto lending questions, answered
Can I borrow against Bitcoin or Ethereum?
You can describe Bitcoin, Ethereum or other holdings in an enquiry. Acceptance, custody and available borrowing depend on a specific lender and jurisdiction; listing an asset here does not mean a facility is available.
What is a margin call on a crypto-backed loan?
If collateral value falls, the agreement may require you to add collateral or repay some borrowing. Assets may be liquidated when its thresholds are reached. The exact triggers, notice and response period must be checked in the lender’s terms.
Is crypto lending available in the UK, USA, Canada or UAE?
We welcome an initial enquiry from these markets. Residence, borrower type, asset location, applicable rules and lender criteria affect whether a route can be explored. This does not confirm availability or authorisation in every country.
Can I get a quote without moving my crypto?
Start with an outline only. Do not send assets, wallet passwords, private keys or seed phrases to GLOPEX or through the enquiry form. An initial enquiry does not require a crypto transfer.
Are fixed loan-to-value ratios or rates available?
No rate or loan-to-value ratio is promised here. Any terms depend on an actual lender assessment, the assets and the applicable jurisdiction.
Is this the same as selling my cryptocurrency?
A secured loan and a sale are different transactions, but collateral may still be sold or liquidated under the loan terms. The outcome and any tax treatment require review of the actual arrangement.
